Prairie Spiderwort, Bracted Spiderwort, Long-bract Spiderwort—all common names for Tradescantia bracteata. It is native to the northern and central Great Plains, as well as the Mississippi Valley. It is common on dry to moist prairies, in open woods, on roadsides, and in other open places. Measuring at just one foot, it is the shortest spiderwort in the Midwest. It blooms from May to July.
