Produce Safety Alliance Training Date: Thursday, November 9 Time: 8am to 5pm Location: Farmtable Procurement & Delivery – 1901 Hawkeye Ave, Harlan, Iowa 51537Fruit and vegetable growers and others interested in learning about produce safety, the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule, Good Agricultural Practices, and co-management of natural resources and food safety should attend this training. Over seven hours, the instructors will cover: • Introduction to Produce Safety • Worker Health, Hygiene, and Training • Soil Amendments • Wildlife, Domesticated Animals, and Land Use • Agricultural Water (Part 1: Production Water and Part II: Postharvest Water) • Postharvest Handling and Sanitation • How to Develop a Farm Food Safety Plan After completing the entire course, participants will be eligible to receive a certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) that certifies they have completed the training course. Cost to attend the training is $20 (for Iowa growers; $120 for out-of-state growers), which includes the cost of AFDO Certificate, Course Manual, and Lunch. The course begins at 8:00 am and will conclude at 5:00 pm. Training will be held at Farmtable Procurement & Delivery’s warehouse located at 1901 Hawkeye Ave, Harlan, Iowa, IA 51537.
