Uses of Native Plants

In addition to many edible & medicinal uses, native prairie plants have provided many benefits to humans for as long as they have coexisted. Click here or on the image below for a list of some examples of these uses for plants that can be found in the Loess Hills region.

Never harvest any plants without permission, and follow ethical harvesting practices. People have coexisted with native plants for many generations but plant populations are at risk of over exploitation and overharvesting if done without proper cognizance and caution.

This resource is still a work in progress and being updated and organized regularly, so it may not be completely organized yet. If you have additional information or resources to add, email lance@goldenhillsrcd.org.
