Help us preserve and educate about the Loess Hills prairie and pollinator conservation in our region by sponsoring the first annual Pedal for the Prairie, family-friendly bike ride in Glenwood, Iowa. Join Milkweed Matters, Golden Hills, & Mills County Conservation for an all-ages event celebrating Iowa's prairies.
Activities include kids and adult bike rides, monarch butterfly tagging, seed harvesting, tossing seed balls, & more!
Ticket options include: Bike ride within the preserve (includes paved and unpaved options), and a longer ride on local paved and gravel roads (geared towards more experienced/adult riders). Map & details will be emailed to registered participants for the longer ride. You may also purchase a t-shirt in advance without registering for the bike rides.
Proceeds will benefit several local conservation organizations.
The purpose of this community bike ride is to educate about our Loess Hills prairie heritage and feature a beautiful restored prairie in Mills County at the Archeological State Preserve. Participants will help tag migrating monarchs, help restore habitat by tossing milkweed and native nectar flower seedballs, and also help collect precious prairie seed.
Space is limited, so sign up today!
