A
“Lewis & Clark Visit the Loess Hills”
Coloring Book
has been produced. The coloring book follows Lewis & Clark as
they journey up the Trail in Iowa in 1804.
Illustrations were done by Pam
Cates, narrative by Liz Bisbee and authentication by Beverly Hinds. The
coloring book is an educational tool in teaching children about the
Lewis & Clark Expedition in an easy to understand format.
The project was a joint effort of Golden Hills RC&D, the Iowa Lewis &
Clark Bicentennial Commission, the Loess Hills National Scenic Byway
Council and Western Iowa Tourism Region.
Funding sources included Iowa West Foundation, Harrison County
Conservation Board, Harrison County Historical Village/Welcome Center,
Iowa Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Commission, Monona County Conservation
Board, Northwest Iowa Group of the Sierra Club, Sioux City Lewis &
Clark Interpretive Center, Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center and Woodbury
County Conservation Board.
Distribution of the color books will be through several outlets with
entities providing funding having priority. The coloring books are
available at County Conservation Board offices, visitor centers, welcome
centers and the other sponsoring organizations listed above.
